Environmental Policy

1. Our Commitment

Paperline Limited recognises that its business activities have an impact on the environment. As a wholesale distributor of disposable hygiene products, we source goods from manufacturers across Asia and Europe, operate UK warehouse and office facilities, and distribute products to customers throughout the United Kingdom. Each of these activities carries an environmental footprint.

We are committed to understanding, managing and over time, reducing our environmental impact. This statement sets out honestly where we are today, what we are already doing, and the steps we intend to take in the future. We have chosen to be transparent about the fact that our environmental programme is at an early stage; we believe this is more credible and more useful than making claims we cannot yet substantiate.

2. Our Environmental Impacts

Our principal environmental impacts arise from the following areas:

Freight and Transportation

The majority of our products are imported by sea freight, which is the lowest-carbon mode of international transport available to us. We also use road freight for UK distribution and a small proportion of rail freight for certain import routes. We do not use air freight for routine product importation, which we recognise as an important factor in limiting our carbon footprint relative to businesses that do.

Warehousing and Offices

We operate leased warehouse and office facilities in the UK. Energy consumption in these premises — for lighting, heating, cooling and materials handling equipment — represents our most direct and controllable source of greenhouse gas emissions. All of this is currently purely electric and we ultimately plan to provide most of our energy using solar power.

Company Vehicles

Paperline Limited operates a small fleet of company vehicles and materials handling equipment. Our warehouse is equipped with electric forklift and reach trucks, and our company car fleet consists of hybrid vehicles and battery electric vehicles (BEVs). We have no diesel or petrol-only cars in the fleet.

Products and Packaging

As a distributor rather than a manufacturer, we do not directly control the environmental impact of product manufacturing. However, we recognise our influence as a buyer and the role we can play in encouraging sustainable practices through our purchasing decisions. Some products within our range already reflect a positive approach to materials: our recycled-fibre paper towels are manufactured from post-consumer drinks cartons.

Waste

Our operations generate packaging waste, office waste and general operational waste. We have recycling processes in place within our facilities.

3. What We Are Already Doing

The following environmental measures are currently in place at Paperline Limited:

  • All four warehouse forklift and reach trucks are fully electric, eliminating direct emissions from materials handling within our facilities.
  • Our company car fleet is entirely low-emission: two hybrid vehicles and two battery electric vehicles, with no combustion-engine-only cars.
  • We operate recycling and waste segregation processes at our warehouse and office premises.
  • International freight is transported by sea, road and rail — we do not use air freight for routine imports, significantly limiting the carbon intensity of our inbound logistics.
  • A proportion of our product range uses recycled raw materials, including paper towels made from recycled drinks cartons and tissue products made from partially recycled pulp, which we actively promote to customers.

4. Carbon Footprint

We have not yet formally measured or calculated our carbon footprint. We acknowledge this is a gap in our environmental programme and intend to address it. Understanding our emissions baseline is a prerequisite for setting meaningful reduction targets, and we are committed to undertaking a carbon footprint assessment during 2026/27.

We anticipate that our largest sources of greenhouse gas emissions, once measured, will be found to be scope 3 emissions from freight and product manufacturing — areas where our direct control is limited but where our purchasing decisions carry influence.

5. Our Commitments for 2026/27

The following actions are committed for the next twelve months:

Area Committed Action Target
Carbon Footprint Undertake a formal carbon footprint assessment covering scopes 1 and 2, with initial scope 3 mapping for freight and key suppliers. Q2 2026/27
Energy Monitoring Introduce systematic monitoring of energy consumption across our warehouse and office premises to establish usage baselines. Q1 2026/27
Supplier Engagement Introduce environmental questions into our supplier review process, starting with our highest-volume manufacturers. Q3 2026/27
Waste Reduction Review inbound packaging waste and identify opportunities to reduce, reuse or switch to recycled-content packaging materials. Q2 2026/27
Environmental Policy Develop a standalone internal Environmental Policy document to complement this public statement. Q1 2026/27
Staff Awareness Provide basic environmental awareness briefing to all staff covering our impacts and what individuals can do. Q2 2026/27

6. Legal Compliance

Paperline Limited is committed to complying with all applicable environmental legislation and regulations. We are not subject to mandatory carbon reporting requirements such as Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting (SECR) at our current size, but we regard voluntary transparency as consistent with our values and in the interest of our customers and stakeholders.

We will monitor developments in environmental regulation that may apply to businesses of our size and sector, and will adapt our practices accordingly.

7. Review and Accountability

This statement has been approved by the director of Paperline Limited, who holds personal accountability for our environmental programme. The statement will be reviewed and updated annually. Progress against the commitments set out above will be assessed as part of that annual review, with outcomes reported in the following year's statement.

We welcome engagement from customers, employees and other stakeholders on our environmental performance.
